this connection is no different then any other internet connection. if you do not encrypt your data from point A to point B, a person in the middle can examine the data if they wanted.
For example, when you use a credit card to pay for something on a website you are setting up a SSL connection between your computer and the website. This means your communication is encrypted from your computer while it goes over the internet to the website. It means someone in the middle will have a very very hard time determining what you sent. Notice when a website URL changes from http to https. The https means it is encrypted.
But if you send the credit card data in plain text.. anyone along the path from point A to point B could read that information.
Naturally no one here who manages this dialup service would do such a thing but once your data leaves our network we have no idea who could be in the middle.
So with that said... take the same precautions that you do at home on cable or adsl.. as you do with using a free dialup service!!! Encrypt your data via https or vpn software provided by your work place.
